This program should be based on Biblically sound doctrine and provide activities designed to assist the youth in becoming mature, faithful, and active adult members of the Lord’s church. It should also foster healthy social interaction among the youth with one another and with other members of the congregation. The Youth Minister is primarily responsible for developing and leading the activities of youth ages 7th through 12th grades.
The church is supported by elders, deacons, volunteer teachers, and a part time youth minister. The Minister of the Manhattan Church of Christ must be knowledgeable of the Scriptures and be able to teach, preach and equip the Church for discipleship and service. The Minister must be devoted to Jesus and be passionate about teaching others to live and grow as disciples. The Minister will work with the elders and other leaders in the congregation to equip members for the work of ministry. The pulpit will be shared with the other men in the congregation and guest speakers. Other responsibilities will be assigned to the minister based on his experience, attributes, and interests.

The successful candidate will be a servant hearted man who has a deep walk with the Lord, and who enjoys discipling new members and helping older members grow in their faith. • On a typical day, a Youth Minister starts by checking their email and voicemail to respond to time-sensitive messages from parents, community members, or church staff. She is survived by children Carol Greentree , Susan Vasquez, Richard Cheney Jr., and John Cheney; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Rev. W. Maurice King served Aldersgate, Epworth Euclid, and Canton James S. Thomas United Methodist Churches in addition to serving as Canton District Superintendent. He retired from the East Ohio Conference in 1997 and died in 2009. Pastor James H. Chalfant served Fulton, Rush Run, and Brilliant United Methodist Churches before retiring from ministry in 1995. Rev. Browning is survived by wife Betty; children Kevin Browning, Felicia Browning, Michael Browning, Todd Browning, and Douglas Browning; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
It serves a metro area population of just under 232,000. Our congregation currently has four elders, six deacons and a children’s minister, all supporting about 200 members. A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a full-time Church of Christ minister is preferred; as is a formal Bible education or extensive Bible knowledge through experience.

Elnora K. Wells,surviving spouse of the Rev. Robert N. Wells, died July 28. Rev. Dr. Robert Tolbert served Akron Centenary, Alliance Union Avenue, Cory, Shaffer Memorial, Ashland St. Paul, Wilson, and North Hill UMCs, and as Akron District Superintendent. He should have an appropriate baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, preferably church of Christ related, or a proven track record of ministry growth with a church. He will work under the current Eldership consisting of four sincere and devoted men. He will join a ministry staff consisting of a part-time youth minister, technology coordinator, preschool director, and administrative assistant. Salary package will be commensurate with education and experience. The ideal candidate must have pulpit experience and a degree in Bible from a Christian college/university or preaching school.
Rev. Wilds served the Memphis Conference of The United Methodist Church for five years before serving the North East Ohio Conference beginning in 1967. He pastored at Green Valley, Killbuck, West Salem/Crawford Corners, Crestview Parish and Brooklyn Memorial before retiring from the East Ohio Conference in 2004. Rev. Wilds is survived by his wife Jane, son Chris Wilds, daughter Rebecca Heitz and two grandsons. Rev. Garey is survived by his wife Jeannette, son Jay Garey and daughter Beth Barone.
Evangelism is very important to us since we have a great desire to grow. Work with the elders/deacons to set goals, determine priorities, establish programs, use timelines, etc. to help the church accomplish its mission. The Pulpit Minister will serve under the leadership of the Church of Christ Eldership. This role will serve as the face and voice of the congregation, by bringing the Word of God to life for the congregation and community. Actively develop, supervise, encourage, and equip the campus ministry staff team and the student leadership team and student organization.
